i am recently divorced and want to paint my bathroom but i am not sure if i need a gloss or matte or exactly what. Types would also be useful- Behr, Sherman Williams, Glidden etc.
Thanks to all that respond.

The bathroom in the house I live in has paint peeling off the walls. The previous owner says she painted over wallpaper. How can I fix it and repaint it?

We have painted our bathroom ceiling and the cornices in our spare room with matt emulsion (water based) paint and within a day the pain began to crack badly.
The cornice is mostly cracking where the old pain had cracked off and left the cornice exposed.
The bathroom ceiling is newly re-plastered and we painted with a 50/50 paint/water mix first then two coats.
Yet, we also painted the bathroom and bedroom *walls* with this paint, both newly re-plastered, and they DIDNT crack.
What should we do?
OK, thanks for the cause but what about the solution? sand and re-paint? new type of paint?

I have a guest bathroom that I would like to decorate in a pirate theme. I have a teensy budget (under 100$) and so far I have painted the towel holders, toilet paper holder and switch plates black. I also bought a black shower curtain with white skulls on it. I have a Jolly Roger Flag that I want to hang on the wall behind the toilet, since its the biggest wall to accomodate the flag. Some how I would like to attach a pole like the flag is flying and I was thinking of Bamboo (I have a friend who has a bamboo field) but didnt know if that would go. I have a talking parrot that I will hang from the ceiling, I also have a vase full of the cork from the bottles of wine I drank to fill the vase, which also holds a smaller jolly roger flag.

We are currently trying to make some home improvements to our house. Presently, we have several cracked ceramic tiles in our hallway leading to our bathroom, which has old caulk stuck on the tile floor. I think putting in new ceramic tiles will be more of a hassle and more expensive.

Hello everyone. I needed to have my whole house re done, ie…Flooring, Kitchen, Bathroom, etc. My question is…I always walk around Home Depot and see all the different samples. For the best price and quality, should I go to a place like Home Depot and Lowe’s or should I find independent contractors( in the Yellow Pages) that specialize in certain jobs? I’ve never done anything like this before so I would definitely appreciate the advice. Thanks guys!

Tile is 8″ squares w/dark brown grout. Tile around tub & sink is beige w/med brown mixed in. Tub is gold which I can’t change. I will change sink to white?

I need ideas for decorating a bathroom that don’t include painting. It’s the kind of shower stall with glass doors. Right now, it looks neat, but plain. If you put away the stuff on the counter, you can’t even tell someone lives there, and this drives me more crazy than I care to admit here. lol
What kinds of things can I do to make this space look lived in? I am no good at decorating, wherever that gene went in the family, I didn’t get it. I could use some ideas!
Oh, I’d also like to know what sorts of things I can do to the shower stall itself as well to brighten it up. It’s too plain. To put it another way, right now, the space feels empty. I want to “claim” it, make it my own, but I have no idea where to start. My husband would rather I didn’t paint it, so I’d like to start with ideas on what ELSE I could do.
thank you!
Awesome ideas! keep em’ coming!
The reason I don’t want to paint… is b/c my husband would rather I didn’t. Long story on that one, I won’t bore you with details, but I’d like to try other things first.

This spec home builder put up 3 horribly ugly plate glass mirrors to cover 3 whole bathrooms walls..How do I get these off the walls!!!! Thanks to all home builders and contractors and home improvement specialists for their answers!!!!!

Hi, I have a brand new bathroom (that I don’t want to paint) and the walls are tan-ish/white-ish with a grey design on top, but looking at it, it mostly looks gray. The floors are a grayish/stone tile, the sink top is that grayish color and the cabinets are almost an oak color (light brown). And finally the sink, toilet, and tub are white. Any idea of what colors would complement the walls or the floors, or anything like that? Or any idea of what theme I could use for these colors? Your answers are appreciated, thanks.
