bathroom improvement

I am wondering about replacing my tub completely. But as I search for a tub I am running into an issue……
I keep finding that the tubs I like and look nice with a good price tag are referred to as “Drop In” tubs. So please someone tell me if this means that the “Drop In” tub needs to go inside of an existing tub or does it mean it is a regular tub that needs some sort of a surrounding?

If the answer is a surrounding what would be the best suggestion for building a nice enclosure for a jet, spa tub?

Thanks!

Its a regular tub, that needs some sort of surround. “Drop-in” in this case is the opposite of free standing (such as claw foot tub)

Yes, yes and yes. You are right on track here.

                    Hi,
Yes drop in tub is rather a confusing name for a bath that is not free standing. Its certainly sounds as if you should be dropping it some place :).

                    Good luck
